Walker's wallop and rain,rain

The Pirates used a Neil Walker two run homer (1) in the eighth inning to nip the Cubs 3-2 Tuesday night.
Garrett Jones homer (7) scored the other Pirate run.
Joel Hanrahan (2-1) was the winner with Octavio Dotel pitching the ninth for save number 12.
The scheduled game for Wednesday was called after a three hour rain delay.
The Pirates are off tomorrow, but no word on a makeup date.
Pittsburgh starts a series at PNC Park against the Giants on Friday.

Pirate Hooks

1) The Walker shot was not just the game winner and first homer of his MLB career, but was slammed to the deepest part of the ballpark as well...

2) The Pirates are now 7-1 vs the Cubs and 15-30 in their other games.

3) Jeff Karstens kept the team in the game as only a two run homer to Xavier Nady dented Karstens over six innings.
You cannot ask for more that from your temporary fifth starter.

4) Lastings Milledge cost the team a run by attempting to stretch a double into a triple as Jeff Karstens was just short of crossing the plate.
Apparently the Pirates and/or Milledge forgot the baseball adage of making the final out of an inning at third base...

5) The Pirates activated Jack Taschner from the DL before the rainout and returned Steven Jackson to Indianapolis after a short stay.

And for the Pirate rainout and of course Battlin' Bob-here is a little something special (?)
